Automobile Barcelona 2027 Accommodation: Where Should Corporate and Manufacturer Groups Stay?
13 September 2026

Automobile Barcelona moves to Fira Barcelona Gran Via in 2027, changing the accommodation geography for corporate and manufacturer teams.
The venue has moved, and so should the planning
The 44th Automobile Barcelona runs from 10 to 18 April 2027, with press and professional days on 8 and 9 April. For the first time, the show leaves its historic home at Montjuïc and moves to Fira Barcelona Gran Via in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
This is the most important planning point for anyone who has attended before. Accommodation habits built around Montjuïc, Plaça Espanya and the lower city no longer describe the show's geography. Gran Via offers around 240,000 square metres across eight halls, is served by Metro line L9 South at Fira and Europa/Fira and by rail at Europa/Fira, and sits roughly twelve kilometres by road from Barcelona El Prat airport.
Areas assessed against the new venue
| Area | Suits | Property type | Advantage | Consideration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gran Via and Plaça Europa | Operational and stand teams | Apartments and serviced residences | Immediate access to the halls and the airport road | Limited character for senior hosting |
| Les Corts and Pedralbes | Executive leadership and manufacturer hosting | Villas and principal apartments | Privacy, gardens and reasonable access to Gran Via | Requires drivers for most movements |
| Eixample | Mixed groups combining business and city time | Large classic apartments | Central position, dining and connectivity | Parking is constrained and often off-site |
| Sarrià-Sant Gervasi | Senior groups wanting quiet residential quality | Family houses and upper-floor apartments | Calm, space and consistent bedrooms | Further from both the halls and the seafront |
| Gavà Mar and Castelldefels | Residence-led stays with entertaining | Coastal villas with pools and gardens | Space, privacy and a strong evening setting | Coastal road conditions shape daily timings |
The airport relationship changed too
Gran Via's position between the city and El Prat is genuinely useful for delegations flying in and out across several days, and for teams whose colleagues join for a single professional day. It also makes the coastal strip towards Gavà and Castelldefels more viable than it would have been for a Montjuïc show, because the airport, the halls and the coast sit broadly on the same axis.
That is worth weighing for groups who want villa space and a pool without accepting a difficult daily journey.
Split leadership from operations
Automobile Barcelona is a long show. Nine public days plus two professional days means most exhibitors rotate staff, and the people present on 8 April are frequently not the people present on 18 April. Accommodation planned as a single block for a single group rarely survives contact with that reality.
- Operational and stand staff: rooms close to Gran Via, booked for the full run.
- Leadership and hosting: a residence in Pedralbes, Sarrià or the coast for the press and opening days.
- Visiting executives: shorter stays timed around specific appointments.
- Client entertaining: concentrated in the first week, when senior attendance peaks.
AUCON and Test Drive extend the programme
The show's congress on autonomous and connected vehicles, AUCON, and the Test Drive programme both add fixed commitments away from the stand. Executives speaking at the congress have schedules that look nothing like those of the commercial team, and test-drive activity involves vehicle movements and staff who need to be on site early.
Where these apply, the accommodation should be decided after the speaking and driving commitments are known, not before.
What a residence adds here
For manufacturer groups, a private house in Pedralbes or along the coast provides what a hotel in a busy show city does not: a private dinner with dealers or partners, a leadership meeting that is not overheard, and a controlled space to prepare before press days. Dining, private chefs, housekeeping, security and transport can be coordinated alongside the property where the programme requires it.
Planning a stay around this event?
Request a ResidenceThe short version
Discard Montjuïc-era assumptions. Place operational staff close to Gran Via, place leadership where privacy and hosting are possible, and use the airport axis to your advantage if villa space matters. Then decide who is present on which days, because at an eleven-day show that question determines more than location does.
