Start with the dates you can rely on

Dates for the 2027 Los Angeles Auto Show have not been formally published. The confirmed 2026 edition runs from 20 to 29 November at the Los Angeles Convention Center, with AutoMobility LA on 19 November. Those dates describe the show's usual position in the calendar; they should not be carried forward as 2027 dates, and third-party calendars that do so are not a safe planning basis.

The organiser currently describes an exhibition of more than one million square feet, bringing together global manufacturers, technology companies and media, with an industry preview that draws thousands of attendees before public days begin.

Prestige and practicality pull in different directions

Los Angeles is the one show city where the most desirable addresses are frequently the worst working bases. Beverly Hills, Bel Air and Malibu offer exceptional houses and, depending on the day and the hour, an unhelpful relationship with Downtown. For a team making two or three movements to the Convention Center each day, that relationship is the single largest variable in the week.

This does not rule those areas out. It means the choice should be made on the basis of the actual itinerary rather than the reputation of the postcode.

Comparing the bases

Industry days start early and they start the week

The press and industry programme front-loads the week for the people with the most fixed obligations. Executives presenting, giving interviews or hosting media need to be at the Convention Center early, reliably, and repeatedly. If those are the guests the accommodation is really for, weight the decision decisively towards a central base, or accept that departures will start substantially earlier than feels reasonable.

The split that usually works

A common and effective structure is a principal residence in Beverly Hills or the Hills for leadership, client dinners and private meetings, combined with Downtown hotel rooms for the stand team, technical staff and anyone whose hours are unpredictable.

• Leadership keeps privacy, space and a hosting venue.
• The working team keeps short, flexible access to the halls.
• Fewer late-night vehicle movements across the city.
• Client entertaining happens somewhere memorable rather than in a hotel function room.
• Driver requirements drop sharply, because only one group needs them routinely.

Driveways, gates and cars

Hillside Los Angeles houses are frequently reached by narrow roads with tight turns and steep aprons. Where the group brings display vehicles, low-slung cars, or simply a larger chauffeur vehicle, the approach needs checking properly: gate width, apron transition, turning room inside the gates, and whether a vehicle can be left overnight without blocking access.

Secure covered parking is worth specifying explicitly when anything of value is staying at the property.

Airports and arrival planning

Arrivals through LAX, Burbank and Van Nuys each favour a different side of the city, and private aviation into Van Nuys in particular makes the West Side and the Valley fringe more attractive than a map of Downtown would suggest. Where a group arrives across several flights, sequencing collections matters more than the nominal distance from the airport to the house.

Decide geography from the itinerary

Before comparing properties, write out the week as movements: who goes to the Convention Center, how often, at what times, and what happens in the evenings. In Los Angeles that exercise settles the location question faster than any comparison of neighbourhoods, and it usually produces a less glamorous but far more effective answer for the working part of the team.
