IAA Mobility Munich 2027 Accommodation: Where Should Corporate and Manufacturer Teams Stay?
13 September 2026

IAA Mobility 2027 runs from 7 to 12 September. The best accommodation depends on whether Messe München, the city programme or executive privacy dominates the schedule.
Two centres of gravity
IAA Mobility 2027 runs from 7 to 12 September, with Press Day on 6 September. The Summit and conference programme takes place at Messe München in Riem from 7 to 10 September, while Open Space occupies central Munich from 7 to 12 September.
That split is the whole accommodation question. A team whose week is dominated by the Summit, the halls and customer meetings at Messe München has a different geography from a brand team working Open Space in the city squares. Groups that try to serve both from one badly chosen base spend the week in traffic.
Where different teams should sit
| Area | Suits | Property type | Advantage | Consideration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bogenhausen and eastern Munich | Teams centred on Messe München | Substantial villas and large apartments | Positioned towards Riem while remaining in the city | Less immediate for the Open Space programme |
| Central Munich and Schwabing | Brand teams working Open Space | Principal apartments and townhouses | Walkable to the city programme and evening hosting | Vehicle access and parking are constrained |
| Grünwald | Executive leadership and private hosting | Villas with gardens and privacy | Genuine seclusion within the Munich area | Every movement requires drivers |
| Starnberg | Groups combining business with a residential stay | Lakeside houses and estates | Setting and space | Longer daily journeys in both directions |
| Tegernsee | Residence-led programmes only | Country estates and chalets | Exceptional for retreats and offsites | Impractical as a daily commuting base |
Press Day pulls arrivals forward
Press Day on 6 September means senior executives, communications teams and product specialists arrive before the public programme begins, often the evening before. Accommodation booked to start on 7 September will be a day short for the people who matter most.
It is also the day when a private residence earns its place: a controlled space for a rehearsal, a briefing before announcements, or a quiet dinner with analysts and journalists is difficult to improvise in a full hotel.
The scale to plan around
IAA Mobility's conference programme is large by any measure. The 2025 edition reported more than 21,000 conference participants and over 550 speakers from 32 countries. For 2026, organisers reported that more than 100 companies had rebooked and that 53 per cent of the previous exhibition space was reserved more than a year in advance.
The practical implication is not that accommodation is unobtainable, but that the good options are committed early by organisations whose planning cycle runs ahead of the calendar. Waiting for internal approval before beginning a search usually costs choice rather than money.
What a residence gives a manufacturer team
- A private room for leadership meetings that does not need to be booked each morning.
- Breakfast used as a briefing, with the day's positions agreed before departure.
- Space to host a small group of customers or partners away from the halls.
- Consistent bedrooms for executives of similar rank.
- Somewhere for principals to work between Messe commitments and city events.
None of these require a large estate. They require the right rooms, reliable connectivity and an arrival that is private. Where catering, private chefs, housekeeping, security or transport are needed alongside the residence, they can be coordinated.
Keep the wider delegation in hotels
For most manufacturer and supplier teams, the sensible structure is a principal residence for leadership and hosting, with hotel accommodation for the wider delegation. Stand teams, technical staff and agency colleagues generally keep unpredictable hours and are better served by rooms they can come and go from without affecting anyone else.
Attempting to house forty people in houses because the leadership team benefits from one is a common and expensive error. The residence should cover the functions that genuinely need privacy.
Let transport follow the organisation chart
Because IAA is split between Riem and the city centre, vehicle allocation should be decided by role rather than seniority alone. A product lead moving between halls all day needs a different arrangement from a chief executive attending three fixed appointments. Deciding this alongside the accommodation, rather than after it, is what keeps the week workable.

Request a ResidenceConclusion
Choose Bogenhausen and the east when Messe München dominates. Choose central Munich when Open Space and evening hosting dominate. Choose Grünwald when executive privacy and hosting outweigh convenience, and treat Starnberg or Tegernsee as residence-led options rather than commuting bases.
