"Close to SEMA" is not a specification

SEMA takes place from 2 to 5 November 2027 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The Show is spread across West, North, Central and the upper and lower South Halls, each with different product categories, and teams typically spend their days in one or two of them rather than moving across the whole campus.

That is why a brief that says "close to the Convention Center" is too coarse to be useful. The hall your team works from, and the entrance they use, materially changes which side of the campus is convenient. Current transport arrangements combine multiple hubs, hotel shuttles and the Monorail, but exact 2027 routes should be confirmed once published.

Working teams and leadership have opposite needs

The stand team's requirement is simple: be near their hall, come and go at unpredictable hours, and not depend on anybody else's schedule. A hotel does this better than a residence, and there is no benefit in moving them.

Leadership has a different problem. Four days of show floor, client meetings and evening events is genuinely draining, and the quality of decisions made on the Thursday depends partly on what Tuesday evening looked like. A private residence with space, quiet and a proper dinner table can be worth more to a small senior group than another hotel suite.

What the residence is actually for

• A private briefing room that does not need booking each morning.
• Client or partner dining away from the noise of the Strip.
• Somewhere for principals to work between commitments.
• Consistent bedrooms for executives of similar seniority.
• Garaging for display or demonstration vehicles, where required.

If the group's week contains none of these, the residence is simply more expensive sleeping accommodation with a longer journey attached, and hotels are the better answer.

The transport cost is real

Summerlin and Henderson both deliver space and privacy that the Strip cannot. They also add two journeys a day, minimum, and more when executives return to change before evening events. Las Vegas traffic during Show week compounds this.

The test is the number of daily movements, not the distance. A leadership group with one departure and one return can sit comfortably in Summerlin. A group returning three times a day should be much closer, or should accept that drivers become a significant part of the operation.

Vehicles and garaging

Automotive companies at SEMA frequently have vehicles with them, whether demonstration cars, builds or press vehicles. Residential garaging in Summerlin and Henderson is often generous, but door height, driveway gradient and community rules on trailers and transporters vary. Where anything of value is staying at the property, secure covered parking and overnight arrangements should be confirmed rather than assumed.
